The Park

Johannes and the other animals of this novel live in an unnamed park on an unnamed island. There are many details about this park, including that there is an area where people skate, a duck pond shaped like a peanut, and a rocky bluff where Johannes meets with the other animals who gather information about events in the park. Though the animals consider the park to be home, there are often conflicts between the people who visit or work there and the animals. For example, Johannes returns to his home in a hollow tree one day to discover the park workers have filled the opening with concrete.
