Summary

In Chapter 13, Bertrand wakes Johannes. He flies slightly ahead and above, talking to Johannes as they go. All the animals, including Johannes, have been interested in a building project in the park. Bertrand has been able to see inside. There are “a thousand pictures in there,” many are more strange than the one that mesmerized Johannes the day he was captured. There are only a few people. They seem to be officials. Johannes knows he would never be allowed inside the building to look at the paintings. Bertrand, who tends to know what Johannes is feeling, says he is going to get Johannes into the building.
