Point of View
The Ex Hex is told through third person limited narration. The narrator’s focus alternates between the two protagonists, Vivi and Rhys, each chapter. This is especially useful since one of the main obstacles that Vivi and Rhys face in their journey towards being together is miscommunication.
Switches in narration occur between chapters. This has the effect of telling two parallel sides of one story. The reader gets to see what both Rhys and Vivi think of the events unfolding around them, as well as the depth of love and attraction each feels for the other. At all times, their relationship remains in the forefront of their minds, despite whatever chaos is going on around them. At heart, The Ex Hex is a love story about two people from separate worlds reuniting to face a common enemy.
