Importance: This is a Jones family saying that is referenced throughout the novel. Mixing vodka and witchcraft has dire consequences for Vivi and Rhys, as Vivi accidentally casts a curse that affects Rhys eight years later.
Sure, there were the occasional Lacrosse Cheaters, but [Vivi] could more than handle them, and she loved going to work on Penhaven’s campus… All in all, it was a good fit, and it made her feel . . . stable. Safe.
