Summary
Banks is sitting near Leviathan and making marks in his logbook about the wind. While the entire town celebrates he sits alone thinking of his lost daughter and worse he thinks that the serpent has his daughter despite the fact that it has been discovered. Banks looks up to see Francis watching him and he becomes nervous around Francis as all people are. Francis asks him if he saw the thing in the water but Banks tells him that there is nothing out there. Francis grabs Banks’ hand and takes him to the shore where something in the water makes Francis succumb to a fit of laughter much like the girls in the classroom and when he is back to being himself Francis decides to tell Stella about what he sees.
