Summary
Naomi Banks is missing, she disappears the day Cracknell is found and has left behind a note. Her father is in despair and all of the houses in the village have been searched. The villagers are weary and look for signs finding them everywhere. Nightwatchmen are set up to try and wait for Naomi but they come up with nothing. Stella is at home writing in her blue book about being baptized again and she writes about visitors who come to see her. Will is having trouble with his service because he tries to preach brightly but the villagers doubt him and he lies awake at night wondering if judgement has indeed come to his house. He has heard nothing from Cora but he still writes her.
