Summary
In Chapter Ten, the narrator and Z arrive in London. They are housed in a shelter for women with children. The narrator begins the process of searching for R through the missing and found person bulletin boards. They spend their days taking long walks around London. The narrator sees bullet holes in the sides of buildings. The narrator hears news that there are boats to take people back to their property if it is in an area that has been declared dry. The narrator joins a waiting list to be taken back to her old apartment. The narrator bumps into a man, V, who she used to work with but they have little to say to each other. The narrator loses track of the number of days she has been back in London.
