Summary
Chapter 42 is set the morning that Henry and Jürgen go to the narcoterrorists’ camp in the Brazilian rainforest. Henry was surprised when he heard gunshots. Jürgen explained that Henry’s agent had killed many of the terrorists, but some of them were still alive. Henry was shocked because his discovery was not supposed to kill, only incapacitate. When Henry learned that the wind had blown the agent in the direction of the village where a group of Cinta Larga Indians lived, Henry insisted on being taken there. Henry heard flies as soon as he reached the village. The bodies lying on the ground in contorted positions were just like he imagined Jonestown had been like. He felt in both places the people had been killed by some “madman’s fantasy” (296). Henry saw a dead mouse under a chair.
