There was a noticeable change both in the Emperor and in the way the Palace was run after the failed coup. First of all, any talk of the coup—along with many other dark pages in the country's history—was strictly forbidden. The Emperor had also silently and gradually begun a purge. He never liked to make any dramatic change, because it could cause excessive fear or excitement.
