Summary
The guards take America back to her room in Chapter 10. She is mad at everyone, even her maids, because they knew what was going to happen and did not tell her. She makes them leave her room. When she is alone, America begins to understand some of Marlee’s actions from the past. She also thinks that Marlee stayed because she did not want to leave Carter. In addition, she realizes that she could have been the one in Marlee's place, and she wonders what will happen to Marlee now and whether she will ever see her again. She cries, partly because she is ashamed of the fact that she is glad that it was not her.
Later in the afternoon, Maxon comes to her room. He apologizes for what happened and tells her that it had to be done because the cameras...
