Summary
The cranes have left and are following paths they know by instinct that will take them thousands of miles further, finally reaching their home nesting place where they engage in ancient rituals. A pair of cranes that witnessed Mark's accident are now roosting in Alaska, tending to new colts that have hatched. One of the colts starves to death due to his brother's ravenous appetite. This young bird will make the annual trip with the flock in autumn back to warmer climates.
