Summary
In Chapter 6, Whistledown notes that it has been reported to her that Simon told various people he had no plans to marry, comments that Whistledown believes the mothers will only take as a challenge. She also notes how interested he seemed in Daphne.
The day after the ball, Simon took a bunch of tulips to Daphne’s home. Daphne had warned him that if he did not pay a visit the next day, no one would think he was really interested. He took Daphne’s word for it since he had never dated a “respectable” (110) woman before. Inside, Simon was surprised to see that Daphne was surrounded by at least six men, one of whom was on his knees reciting poetry to her.
