England

Elizabeth and Emily were born in Bristol, England. They eventually moved with their parents to the United States, where Elizabeth and Emily worked as teachers before becoming doctors. Elizabeth and Emily occasionally made trips back to England over the years. Some of these trips consisted of the pursuit of further medical training and education, and some of these trips consisted of efforts to advance the cause of women in medicine in England.

Ohio

After experiencing financial hardship England, the Blackwells moved to Cincinnati, Ohio.
