Summary

Kent notes that Enrique is still standing with water running off him. He uses the “frozen moment” (83) to describe what is happening, in general, in Argentina. He writes that the country is finally experiencing a phase of prosperity. Kent also notes that Borges, a Spanish writer known for his short stories, poems, and essays, was born in Buenos Aires. Kent had once lectured about this writer who played with the space-time continuum as Kent does.

Kent also notes the irony that just at a time when he feared his daughter would grow up seeing him as a stranger, he had gone to visit a place where people believed things could never change. Kent believes, for instance, that the wealth the people in Argentina believed they had was just a mirage. He was not sure if the people would even notice if the country...
