Summary

In Chapter 34, Carrie returns to the copy shop to see Julie and is rejected again. Carrie decides she should go back to New York and she books a flight. She runs into Rooster and learns that he and Joan are expecting a child. Rooster, Mike, and Carrie all go out to lunch. Mike talks about working for his father and how it is boring. Rooster and Carrie drop Mike off and end up talking about Mike. Rooster tells her that while she was away, Mike was talking about wanting to die; he even went so far as to ask for help in killing himself. He regrets telling Carrie, but feels she should know. He also wants her to know that Mike did not want Carrie to come back out of pity.
