The Canned Beet Rebellion Summary
Headmaster Richmond announces that Sylvia Kargman, mother to student and a generous alumni, is coming to speak about following dreams. Because of her, all Snapple and Coke machines on campus have been replaced by Viva Soda machines, the company for which Sylvia is CEO. Because the Viva machines monopolize the school food budget, there is no salad bar. So Frankie has the Bassets order merchandise like shirts and buttons for students to wear. She also sends out a note that criticizes the Viva machines.
Sylvia's lecture is respectfully heard, but the next day, she realizes she has been mocked. Rather than demanding action, she sends more money to the school to create a salad bar. Richmond later addresses the students at large and tells them there is an appropriate and an inappropriate way to handle the desire...
