Structure
The book is divided into an introduction section and six chapters. The introduction positions the book in relation to relevant current events, specifically the George Floyd protests and the 2020 Presidential election. Blow reflects on these events in terms of how they have motivated his writing of this book, and how they have shaped the underlying ideas. Namely, Blow asserts that Black Americans cannot rely on the help of white Americans in addressing racial injustice, and Black Americans must instead take direct, collective action. Each of the following chapters then serves to outline Blow’s proposed plan, build the arguments for said plan, and rebut objections to the plan.
