Chapters 1-4 Summary
In chapter one Andrea Sachs races through Manhattan as fast as she is able while struggling with the manual transmission of her boss's Porsche. Andrea has been ordered by Miranda Priestly, the editor-in-chief of Runway magazine to retrieve her car from the garage and take it to her garage. Though this task does not seem overly difficult, Miranda is vague when giving instructions and Andrea is left to figure out not only what car Miranda is talking about, but where it is.
After extensive investigation and calling various staff members, Andrea is able to find the car and as she heads toward Miranda's apartment is interrupted by a call from the woman herself.
