Raisa is then summoned to the Queen's chambers where the Queen wants to discuss Raisa's upcoming sixteenth name day, voicing her opinion that a southern alliance would probably not be a good idea. Raisa tries to talk politics of war with her mother, but is quickly shut down. The Queen seems to want Raisa settled soon. The Queen warns Raisa that her clandestine meetings with Amon have to stop, having been told about them by Magret. Raisa, filled with indignation, tells her mother that her behavior with the High Wizard isn't appropriate either, and all reason leaves the Queen.
