Summary
In Chapter 26, Liselle wondered if the FBI would handcuff Winn when they took him away. She dismissed the thought and rejoined the dinner conversation. When Xochitl was ready to leave, Liselle went "to go find her wallet" (121). Then she heard something in Patrice's room. She was startled to find Winn "sitting in the dark on the bed, holding a tumbler" (121). Liselle was embarrassed he had abandoned the guests. He was also drunk. Winn whined about not wanting to run for office again. "Liselle felt taken aback by . . . his cluelessness" (122). No one would ever encourage Winn to run again. The more he whined, the more frustrated Liselle felt. Finally she asked him about the FBI indictment. Winn seemed surprised. Liselle told him about her conversations with William McMichael. Winn was furious. He grabbed and shook her.
