Olivia Elise Davenport
Olivia Elise Davenport is the middle Davenport child. Shortly before the narrative present, she made her societal debut and is eagerly awaiting a suitable marriage. At the outset of the narrative, Olivia is enchanted by Mr. Lawrence, an eligible bachelor her parents invite to Freeport Manor. When they have a picnic in the park, chaperoned by Mrs. Davenport, Olivia struggles to find a suitable topic of conversation. However, when Mr. Lawrence alludes to being born into a wealthy family and managing his parents’ expectations, Olivia feels a sense of comradery with him. She convinces herself that their relationship can develop into love once they are married. One day, when Olivia visits the community center to drop off provisions, she follows a group of young people to a nearby meeting house.
