Summary

Chapter 3 opens with Ruby describing Jude. He is lanky and small, and is always waiting when any of them return from a mission. This time, Ruby and Vida enter without Jude's presence, but he rushes to Ruby when he sees her, saying he had not realized she was back. Ruby immediately knows there is something wrong with Nico and Jude, despite Jude's constant talking. Nico is holding a device known as a chatter. It is a basic communication device developed by some children with green abilities. Jude reveals that he and Nico are worried about their friend, Blake, who is unexpectedly out on a mission. Ruby tries to say there is nothing wrong with Blake being out, though his team typically remains in the building, but she knows there is more to the story.
