Lorna's House

Lorna leaves her house at the beginning of the narrative. Her presence here foreshadows her death and the motive for her death because the narrator says that she is wiling to fight for Thomas. She then steps into the cold which symbolizes death. In addition, the absence of a computer at her home foreshadows the existence of incriminating evidence on it. This is also where Holly finds the paintings of Jinny's Mill.

Brockburn

Brockburn is Vera's ancestral home. Juliet, Harriet, and Mark live here. Dorothy and her family live in a cottage on the estate as do the Heslops. It is significant because Lorna's body is found at Brockburn. Vera is forced to face and come to terms with past family issues.
