Roland Deschain pulls the cart as he and Patrick Danville get close to the Dark Tower. The finally get in sight of the tower, and Roland sees it for the first time. They walk closer to the tower, but the Crimson King sees them and flings sneetches at them from a balcony. They hide behind a rock and steel barrier, Roland calling out and mocking the king for missing. He realizes he can't stay hidden forever, for the tower and roses are calling to him. Roland asks Patrick to draw the Crimson King, and Patrick complies, although he says it will be hard. Patrick finishes the drawing, but can't get the king's eyes...
