Susannah Dean is casing the room where she is held with Mia and several of the low men and taheens. Mia is giving birth, and, through a psychic link with Susannah, agrees to help Susannah escape if she can. Susannah is surprised to see the baby has a set of teeth and a larger penis than a newborn should. The baby, named Mordred, is given to Mia to breastfeed, but the baby turns into a part-spider and sucks all the moisture out of Mia's body, killing her. Susannah grabs a gun from one of the low men and kills them all. She shoots one of the legs off of Mordred, but he escapes...
