Summary

In Chapter 3, Vengeance dies a violent death in the lava. A drop splashes on Starflight's foot and he almost faints from the pain. Deathbringer is sent to the dungeon while the queen investigates the allegations against him. Greatness adjourns the meeting, saying “If it's your turn to eat this week, go do that now” (43). Morrowseer leads Starflight who thinks about what he had hoped his home kingdom would be like. He tries to clear his mind, fearing Morrowseer can read his thoughts, but cannot stop thinking about things such as the fact that “Glory might be queen” (44) of the RainWings by now. Morrowseer accepts his words despite Starflight's thoughts. Starflight asks questions and learns that food is so limited that each NightWing is allowed to hunt or gather only about five days a month.
