Point of View
The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein is told from the first-person point of view and exclusively follows Elizabeth. Everything that happens in the novel revolves around her decisions, and the reader is meant to develop an emotional attachment with her. Despite Elizabeth’s manipulation, she is actually a reliable narrator. This is because she never lies to the reader about anything she says or does. All of her intentions are left open for the reader to see, even if the other characters are unaware of her manipulations.
