Summary

In Chapter Fifteen: Love or Hate to Me Alike, Elizabeth wakes up to find Victor waiting for her. Elizabeth tells him about Justine, reminding him that they both know how easy it is to plant evidence. Viktor says the man she thinks is the killer was in Ingolstadt when he left and she tells him what happened in the forest. He tells her the monster was likely a dream. She asks him what he was working on. He says nothing he did was successful. Furthermore, he will not let her go to Justine’s trial but says he will take her testimony. He promises that death will not touch her and leaves. She thinks of the nights she used to sleep in a tree on the banks of Lake Como where no one ever found her.
