Norma
Norma is the main character in "The Story Of" and "The Story of Of," which begin and end the book. She is a married woman who is obsessed with becoming pregnant. She checks chat rooms for mothers trying to get pregnant every day while trying not to be mean to other women on the internet.
Every day Norma eats lunch at the same coffee shop on Dead Elm Street then she walks down Larre Road on her way back home. In the first story, she eats at the coffee shop by herself, but in the other short story Norma is in, she eats lunch with her sister-in-law Damica. Throughout both stories, Norma becomes more and more desperate to conceive a child. In the last story she eventually comes to the conclusion that her husband is having an affair and her mental state starts to rapidly deteriorate.
