Point of View

The body of the novel is written in third person from the limited perspective of Snowfall, a young IceWing who has recently become queen of her tribe. The reader has access to all of Snowfall's thoughts, which are filled with anxiety and fear. Snowfall believes everyone is judging her all the time, which makes her thoughts sometimes chaotic. Snowfall seems to be honest with herself but she is overly fearful and judges herself harshly. Those thoughts rule some scenes with Snowfall falling into the trap of judging herself for what others might be thinking, which makes her even more afraid of doing the wrong thing.

The perspective is not as limited as usual because Snowfall has a magic ring that puts her into the body of other dragons. Through that magic, she experiences everything that happens to several other dragons, including feeling all their emotions...
