Summary

The novel opens with a map of Pantala, a list of the three dragon tribes who live there, and the Lost Continent Prophecy. The prophecy, issued by a NightWing named Moon, predicts the destruction of all the tribes unless “a great evil” is defeated. The Prologue opens with a LeafWing named Swordtail waking in tall grass among many others dragons. He remembers helping build a bonfire that was supposed to deliver an antidote to Queen Wasp's ability to control the HiveWings. There is smoke in the air, indicating there was a fire. He remembers hundreds of HiveWings standing motionless as Blue lit the bonfire and worrying about the lack of reaction.
