Chapter 9 Summary

Penny is staffing the bakery while her mom is at a meeting and Gram is shooting a family portrait. The UPS man delivers a padded envelope from an attorney addressed to Penny's mom. When her mother and Gram return, Penny overhears Gram asking if Lizzie has told Penny yet. Penny leaves the bakery and goes back to the house. Her dad calls and Penny finds out that her parents are selling their apartment in the Village and that there is an offer for someone to buy it.

When she hangs up the phone, she goes out to the beach. Sam knocks her over and Marcus helps Penny up. They sit on the beach together, joining about being in a club that speaks "Ocean." Then Marcus gets up to leave with Sam and tells Penny he'll get the sweatshirt he gave her back later...
