Chapter 1 Summary

Penny is a fourteen-year-old girl, helping her mother decorate cupcakes in the cupcake bakery she owns in Hog's Hollow. When the college girl who helps Penny's mother, Lizzie, set up for events calls in sick, Lizzie decides she has to take Penny to help her. Lizzie gives Penny a quick makeover—changing her black jeans, t-shirt, low ponytail and blue mascara for a white t-shirt, high ponytail, red lipstick and no mascara. When they arrive at the Hog's Hollow Country Club to set up for Charity's Sweet 14th birthday party, Penny realizes that she is going to have to meet some of the girls in the new town she has just moved into.
