Skepticism of the Government

DeMille uses the theme of skepticism of government to prove to the reader how essential personal freedoms are for each individual. He also uses this theme to argue that a more transparent and open government that allows for these individual freedoms is a better form of government. Though not perfect, this proves to the reader that the United States has if not the best form of government, at least a better form of government than Cuba. This theme also proves to the reader to only trust themselves, and fight for themselves, and also to fight for the right for others to have their own freedoms.
