Jude
Jude is the main protagonist of the novel and the viewpoint the author uses to tell the story. Jude is headstrong and craves power to compete with the faeries who torment her. Thanks to Madoc, Jude is highly proficient with a sword and knows the same information as other faeries her age. Jude can also be violent, usually out of self-defense as shown when she fatally stabs a drunk Valerian who attempts to kill her. Yet, she always justifies her actions as she has been taught that revenge is expected in Faerieland. Jude is also shown to be quite intelligent and capable of adapting to any situation she is presented with. Her ability to lie is highly valued to faeries in the high court, and she is shown to be able to use it cleverly and to her advantage.
