Summary

Cardan asks if Jude is going to kill him. He reveals he was unconscious when his family died. She tells him she killed Valerian and that she wants power. Cardan says he did not know what she was capable of. They head to the Court of Shadows where she ties him up and decides she will keep her promise to Dain and become something to fear. She looks around the hideout for the first time. She drags Cardan to Dain’s office and Cardan realizes she was one of Dain’s spies. She looks through Dain’s letters trying to find out why Madoc would betray him. Cardan admits he knew little about Balekin’s plan. She takes his ring, as it matches the seal on the letters. The other spies return and accuse her of working with Madoc. Roach calms them...
