Summary
In Chapter 19, Hadrian and Royce are still in the river being carried along by the box. They are in Lake Morgan and not far from the tavern. Royce says they cannot go to the tavern because the roads will be filled with soldiers. Hadrian tells him that they need to dry and he needs to dress Royce’s wound. To survive they need food, dry clothes, and bandaging. Hadrian says they can get those things at the tavern. Hadrian helps Royce to the tavern and Dougan, the bartender, lets them inside.
Hadrian takes care of Royce’s wounds. As a soldier, he had lots of practice in caring for the wounded. Royce knows he would be dead if not for Hadrian’s help. He does not understand why Hadrian helped him and did not leave him to die on the tower. Royce asks where...
