Summary
In Chapter 11, Hadrian is practicing scaling a wall. During the practice, Hadrian gets to know Royce better. He is amazed how Royce moves with grace and swiftness. He could scale the wall in less time than it would take Hadrian to climb the stairs. Hadrian does not like being without his swords, but the professor insisted he keep them in his room. Royce complains to Arcadius that Hadrian is useless and will never learn how to scale the wall. Arcadius asks Royce how he would get Hadrian up the wall if he had broken his leg. Royce says that he would use ropes and a harness to haul him up the wall. Royce does not understand why he cannot steal the book by himself.
