Dandelion

The members of the Elite, and Erik give Eadlyn a flower or flowers after she announces the members of the Elite in Chapter 1. Erik gives her a dandelion. The dandelion symbolizes Erik. As the dandelion is a weed amongst flowers, Erik is a weed amongst the Elite. He is amongst them and even though he was not chosen, he is the man Eadlyn is looking for. As he says, it is perception. Eadlyn sees him as a flower, not a weed.
