Point of View
The narrative is written from the first-person perspective of Eadlyn. This is fitting as it is her story. While there is a lot going on in the narrative, The Crown is really about Eadlyn’s journey of growth and she is the one making the selection regarding what is right, and not right, for her life. The first person perspective is especially well-done as it gets into Eadlyn’s head as she deals with people’s perception of her and the tribulations that occur throughout the narrative. In addition, the perspective appeals to both older and younger readers. Older readers will recognize Eadlyn’s situation and realize her follies. Yet, they will root for her and hope that she is learning the appropriate lessons. Younger readers may be in the midst of the same teenage angst Eadlyn finds herself in and will identify with her...
