Summary

In Chapter 26, Marco finds that Richard is on the other end of the phone call. Richard says that he knows about Marco’s involvement in the kidnapping. The kidnappers sent him a package with the phone on which Marco called him and a note about Marco. After the phone call, Anne asks Marco if Cora was alive when he checked on her on the night of the Stillwells’ party. She tells him that she has an illness where she loses her memories. She blames herself for losing Cora and Marco feels guilty for Anne’s dismay.

In Chapter 27, Marco decides he has to get rid of his secret cell phone. He drives to the lake and throws the cell phone far into the water. When he returns to his cars he sees a police officer and panics. The next morning, Marco leaves to...
