Pgs. 536 - 566 Summary
Alfred answers the door when Chip arrives. Chip is warmly greeted by his family. Enid says that this is the best Christmas present that she ever had. Chip showers in the downstairs bathroom while Enid and Denise make breakfast.
Gary is leaving that morning and wants to force the discussion about selling the house which beings a family argument. He also confronts Enid about the pills and Denise says that Enid disposed of them. Gary leaves.
After dinner, Chip goes out for a walk. When he returns, he says he will open his gifts in the morning. Enid comments that this is not the kind of Christmas that she wanted. Alfred's condition has worsened so much in the last days. Enid wants Chip to stay more than three days.
Denise and Chip talk later that evening. She asks Chip to stay...
