Alfred and Enid are aboard the Gunnar Myrdal in a cabin without a porthole. Enid did not want to spend the extra money for a porthole.
When Enid is pregnant with Denise, she asks Alfred to buy a certain stock. He feels that finance is none of her business and leaves for an eleven day business trip without even saying goodbye to her. He wants her to move some magazines and glass jars while he is gone. She does not and he is mad when he comes home and finds out.
