Chapter 5 Summary

Zimmerman warns McCoy about Ellen. There will be trouble if Macklin finds out.

Nine days later, the convoy reaches Huimin. At each stop, McCoy tries to gather intelligence on the Japanese. He brings Sessions along with him at T'anch'eng. They did not find any German cannons. The next night in Weifang, McCoy will not take Sessions with because there is a greater danger of being caught. He does not have any time to spend with Ellen because Sessions always wants to talk. He lets Sessions accompany him in Huimin because it is the last chance to find the German cannons, and they do find them there. They photograph them.
