Tara Connelly
Tara Connelly is one of the main characters of the novel. She is the youngest of the Connelly siblings. When Tara was just a child, her mother died from cancer. Shortly thereafter, her brother Eddie suffered a brain injury when he and her father Bobby Connelly were in a car accident. Not long later, Bobby abandoned the family. As a result, Tara learned “how to take care of herself” from a young age (2). Tara learned self-reliance and resilience from growing “up in a home with little parental supervision, in one of the poorer neighborhoods of Port Chester” and “one of the poorer towns in Westchester County” (2). She had close relationships with her siblings, and quickly discovered the importance of loyalty and devotion.
