Summary
In Chapter 6, Roland invited Eddie and Tara inside. Tara had wanted to confront Roland about the commissary money on her own, but Eddie insisted on accompanying her. Inside, Eddie felt a headache coming on. He had suffered a brain injury as a teenager when he and his father, Bobby, got in a car accident.
Eddie felt a “mix of pride and wonder” watching Tara confront Roland (51). Roland insisted he had not given her any money. Tara was relieved, as she did not want to owe him anything.
Eddie struggled to sleep because of his migraine. His insomnia had worsened since “Tara went to prison” (53). He had also had a seizure “five months after [she] left” for Taconic (53).
Eddie eavesdropped on Conor and Tara. Tara’s incarceration had been hard on Conor, as Tara had been like a mother to him. His own mother...
