Summary
The Sympathizer invests in a Sony Walkman, which he begins wearing while moving about Paris to make his deliveries. He wears sunglasses, but not fancy ones like Le Cao Boi’s. In his free time, The Sympathizer continues playacting as a tourist in order to explore various parts of Paris. He and Bon attend rehearsals for the Tet show. The Sympathizer begins to solicit new customers. The Sympathizer purchases fancy shoes on BFD’s recommendation and begins attending French classes. One day, The Sympathizer is apprehended by two young men who want some of his hashish. The Sympathizer identifies them as Arabs and refers to them as Beatles and Rolling Stones.
