Charlie
Charlie works part-time at the garage and part-time at the detective agency. He is positive in the way of youth that have not yet learned the realities of life. He dislikes the fact that his salary does not allow him to afford a car or even nicer clothes, but he has faith that his situation will improve.
When Charlie suggests to Ramotswe that he knows Eddie, a man who does body work on cars and might be able to help identify a person who had brought in a blue car for repairs, Charlie is put in charge of the Marang’s case. Ramotswe has to teach Charlie about ethics when she discovers that he has blackmailed Eddie in order to get information from him. Charlie becomes afraid of Eddie when Eddie comes to the detective agency to tell him that the person who hit Marang threatened him. Later...
