Summary
In Chapter 5, Potokwane paid Ramotswe and Makutsi a visit to tell them that she had good news. A firm that sold office equipment had agreed to sponsor one of the orphans. Makutsi assumed it would be a girl who might attend Botswana Secretarial College and one day use that firm’s office equipment but Potokwane said the firm was going to sponsor Mpilo. Potokwane had already decided she was going to buy him some shoes with rubber soles with some of the money because he was so afraid of lightning.
Potokwane changed the subject, telling Ramotswe that she had gotten the nomination form for the city council. It just needed to be signed by Ramotswe and two registered voters.
