Summary
Lasalle admits he knows who Lorraine is and calls her by her given name, not the code name she is using. He says that he is also interested in Gascoine’s death. While Lorraine believes Gascoine was killed because of the list, Lasalle claims he was an Ice Man and was killed because of what he knew. He explains an Ice Man is a spy and assassin for hire. Lasalle thinks Gascoine had had enough of his job and wanted out. He guesses that Lorraine was talking to the pedlar about whatever item she thought Gascoine was carrying. He promises to look for a document but warns Lorraine that she may be in danger as well.
